Panama Sound is more than a recording studio

— it’s a creative refuge rooted in the East Bay music scene.

We believe artists do their best work when they feel supported, inspired, and connected to something larger than their own projects.

This space exists to keep that energy alive long after the red light turns off. It’s a gathering place for shared noise, late-night breakthroughs, genuine respect for the craft, and zero pretension.

Whether you’re laying down your very first track, putting the final polish on a full-length record, or just obsessed with how great albums get captured, welcome to the orbit.

Ways to Connect

The Newswire

Behind-the-scenes dispatches, session notes, studio wisdom, and whatever audio rabbit hole we’re diving into this week.

No gatekeeping, no corporate fluff. Just real-world lessons from the tracking room and beyond.

Events

Open houses, live jams, record listening parties, and local hangs.

The best collaborations don’t start in an inbox—they start over a cold drink in the yard. Our gatherings are where East Bay musicians meet, talk shop, trade ideas, and kick off their next big project.

The Pub

Much of what makes Panama Sound possible grew out of nearly two decades of conversations at Schmidt’s Tobacco & Trading — known to many of us simply as The Pub.

Before Panama Sound had a physical footprint, it existed as nearly two decades of ongoing conversations, big ideas, and late afternoon banter at Schmidt’s Tobacco & Trading—known to the locals simply as The Pub. That same local spirit, grit, and camaraderie built this place.

Resources & Support

Rep the studio.

Shirts, hoodies, and other items help support community events and keep the studio accessible to indie artists in the Bay Area.

Got old gear gathering dust? Give it a second life.

We gratefully accept donations of working gear, mic stands, vintage cables, and studio tools. Don’t let your unused equipment sit in a closet when it could be capturing an indie band’s dream album. We promise to put it straight to work—or you can check out our Amazon Wishlist to help us upgrade the essentials.

Pre-loved pro-audio looking for a good home.

As the studio evolves, we rotate gear out to make room for new tools. We hate seeing great equipment sit on a shelf. If it’s listed on our Reverb page, it’s tested, loved, and ready to make music in your rig.

Spread the word.

Grab high-res logos, flyers, and digital graphics to help us amplify what we’re building here in Richmond.

The Panama Sound Community

We’re building something intentionally different here: a space where “Vibe Is King.”

Come be part of it. Check the pages above to see what’s happening, and reach out anytime. Whether you’re booking a session, attending a workshop, or just saying hello, you’re always welcome here.
