Why Even Bother With Social Media?
Honestly? I don’t know. It just feels like one of those unwritten rules — like, you can’t legally operate a recording studio without an Instagram, the same way you can’t run a bar without coasters. Most musicians are already on there anyway, so it seemed easier to have a presence than to explain to every new client why I don’t.
I’m not going to pretend this is a “content strategy.” There’s no posting schedule, no growth hacks, no ring light. If I get a good photo from a session and remember to post it before the moment passes, great. If not, the record still got made, which was always the actual job.
- Mastodon… my preference for social media. Click the link and sign up for an account—it’s free, and so much better than Instagram. Give it a little while, it will grow on you.
- Instagram. The de facto platform. I may be sunsetting this account soon.
- Facebook — exists, technically, for the people who still open the app
